Who doesn’t love a celebrity pregnancy? I do! Pregnancy and the changing bodies that accompany the “miracle” of birth don’t discriminate. Some celebrities get a perfect little watermelon bump that fills out sexy and tight maternity clothes (hello Victoria Beckham). Others, like me, gain almost 70 pounds, and basically have to cut off their rings and wear slippers to restaurants. Either way, it’s fun to hear what celebrities REALLY feel about being pregnant. Here are some of my favourite celebrity pregnancy quotes and what I have to say about them:
“I’m going to keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it.”
Rebecca Eckler: I wouldn’t say it was “the worst” experience of my life, but, one thing that I now have in common with a Kardashian is that, I too, actually hated being pregnant. Does this makes me like her just a tiny bit more? Yup.
“You do get the pregnant mush-brain…you know what it’s like? It’s like getting stoned.”
Rebecca Eckler: Kate Hudson gained 68 pounds with her first son and I love her for gaining so much weight. I love her too because, let’s be honest, you do feel spacey. P.S I’ve never inhaled #notwhilepregnantanyway
Supermodel (ugh) Gisele Bundchen
“I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”
Rebecca Eckler: I kind of want to stick my middle finger up at this quote. But, hey, there are a lot of people who are mindful of what they eat. Me, I chose the garbage disposal route. How often in your life can you eat and eat anything you want without being judged?
“I’m crying at everything. The wind will blow a branch and I’m like, awe, nature.” She followed that up with, “I ate two waffles, a banana, cereal with blueberries. And that was between my two breakfasts.”
Rebecca Eckler: Go Amy! When I would go for breakfast, while pregnant, and order, the waiter would start to walk away and my fiancé had to say, ‘That was just HER order. I didn’t order yet.”
“They're amazing. They've tripled in size. I was a 34A; now I'm a 36C. I'm so excited! I'm telling everyone I know, 'Go ahead, touch them!' Without being an a-hole, I have to say, I love being pregnant,”
Rebecca Eckler: I hear ya sister, my partner, I think, was very impressed by my new found boobs that looked like the boobs of practically any of the Housewives of Orange County. So was I actually. They were huge…watermelon huge. So it was a perfect time to shop for some beautiful bras…because it’s a necessity, of course.
“You have the the highest highs and yet you're facing the biggest fear of, “How do I keep someone alive?"
Rebecca Eckler: It’s so true that first feeling of holding your baby is probably the best high you'll ever get. And guess what? The most amazing thing is that I didn't find it hard to keep a baby alive. It’s just when you read a quote like that and then think, “Um, she’s so right!” Best not to overthink this. Babies are pretty resilient.
